The Whitechapel Centre receives donation of 100,000 face masks from Help Finder
4 years ago
Help Finder, a Liverpool-based non-profit organisation, has donated over 100,000 items of PPE to local charity The Whitechapel Centre to support them in their vital work with the homeless across the city region.
Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, Help Finder volunteers have been working hard to ensure necessary PPE is shipped and delivered across Liverpool and as far afield as Paris.
But now they are focusing their initiative on communities closer to home, and have provided The Whitechapel Centre with 100,000 face masks, 5,000 aprons, 100 clear face masks to allow the deaf to lip-read, and 50 visors â all of which will keep staff and those supported by the centre safe.
The Whitechapel Centre opened in 1975 and was founded to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing targeted support to those who are most vulnerable.
Dominic Lipscombe, Director of Help Finder, said:
âSince setting up Help Finder in December 2019, we have grown significantly and our PPE initiative has proven vital to many businesses and organisations, in the city and further afield.
âWe’re incredibly proud to be able to support The Whitechapel Centre through these difficult times and to help them continue to make a difference to people’s lives.â
Ruth McCaughley, Fundraising Manager at The Whitechapel Centre, said:
âAt the start of the pandemic, we were desperately trying to source PPE and Help Finder were a real lifeline, providing us with boxes of supplies when we most needed it.
âThis recent donation of 100,000 face masks and aprons is amazing. Not only will it keep our service users, volunteers and staff safe for months to come, but it will also save the charity many thousands of pounds. Weâre very grateful to Dominic and the team.â
