The Winter Wirral Bazaar goes virtual so you can do your Christmas shopping at home

One of the North West’s biggest festive events, the Wirral Bazaar, is moving online this year, allowing shoppers to purchase Christmas presents and products while raising money for life-saving cancer research – all from the comfort of home.

Now in its 30th year, customers can purchase products from the 1st -14th November on the Wirral Bazaar website, with 10% of all sales going directly to North West Cancer Research.

Rather than cancel the event, the organisers of the Wirral Bazaar took the decision to make this year a virtual event, to comply with recent government guidelines, which have prevented large scale indoor events from taking place up and down the country.

Carefully selected independent businesses from across the country have been chosen to offer a range of unique Christmas gifts – all available via the Wirral Bazaar website for two weeks.

Items include food and drink, clothing for men, women and children, jewellery, toys, gifts for the home and a variety of gifts for men, women and pets. There will also be a selection of charity Christmas cards and gifts, sales of which will directly support North West Cancer Research.

The annual Wirral Bazaar typically attracts thousands of visitors to Thornton Manor, raising over £40,000 in 2019 to support lifesaving cancer research.

Alastair Richards, CEO of North West Cancer Research said:

“The Wirral Bazaar is an incredibly popular event with locals and an important occasion in our fundraising calendar.

“By moving to an online event, we hope that we will be able to reach even more customers than before, helping people to safely do their Christmas shopping and secure the unique gifts that Wirral Bazaar is famous for.

“We hope that the event raises a significant amount for the charity, which has seen its charitable income decline due to the effects of Covid-19. We are grateful for all the support we continue to receive during this difficult time, and we look forward to launching the first virtual Wirral Bazaar to showcase all the amazing independent businesses who have got involved. We will be back at Thornton Manor next year for an even bigger and better Bazaar than ever before!”

The Bazaar is organised by a small but dedicated volunteer committee and their wonderful army of friends and family, whose long-term support has ensured the event’s continued success.

North West Cancer Research is a completely independent charity, dedicated to putting the region’s cancer needs first by funding pioneering research to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer. They support the best cancer research, education and awareness throughout the North West and North Wales.
