10 of Liverpool’s cosiest pubs, perfect for a Christmas drink

What’s yours love?

It’s official, winter is here and we’re lining up the best Liverpool pubs to relax with a bevvy. You know those nights when you fancy a pint or glass of red but don’t really want a mad, one? If a mix of good company, belter jukebox, decent crisps and snacks selection and a comfy seat next to an open fire sounds like your kind of night, read on because we’ve got your winter nights down the pub sorted. Get your Christmas jumper on and check these out.

Here’s 10 of Liverpool’s cosiest pubs that are perfect for a Christmas drink….

1 – Doctor Duncan’s, St John’s Lane

With a great selection of draught and bottled beers and ciders plus all the spirits, why not grab yourself a little nook or cranny at Doctor Duncan’s, unwind in a comfy seat and raise a glass to Rudolph. More info here.

2 – Masonic Bar, Hope Street

The new kid on the Georgian Quarter block, Masonic Bar is a real gem in the Hope Street crown. Having undergone a massive renovation the pub now boasts up chandeliers and comfy sofas for enjoying cocktails, beers and lots of whisky, perfect for Christmas pre-drinks. Find out more here.

3 – Thomas Rigby’s, Dale Street

A bowl of scouse, a comfy seat and a perfectly pulled, cold pint or G&T sounds like a perfect winter evening to us! Thomas Rigby’s is a favourite after work spot which always offer a warm welcome and chilled atmosphere. More here.

4 – The Ship & Mitre, Dale Street

One of Liverpool’s proper boozers, The Ship & Mitre is a champion of ale (it even has an ancient notice board listing them all). The perfect spot for a quiet drink, a catch up with mates or a pint with your dad. Guest ales and more info here.

5 – The Dovey, Penny Lane

The Dovey is a great pub all year round and having spent our summer in the beer garden munching on BBQ, it’s time to batten down the hatches, grab a bar stool and get cosy with a festive catch up with old mates. PS – The Sunday roast is fit! More here.

6 – The Royal Standard, Leyfield Road

Famed for it’s Thursday night pub quiz (which is solid btw) The Royal Standard in West Derby is so homely, you’d be forgiven for enjoying a pint in your slippers. Cosy corners to cuddle up in on date night, and plenty of screens to watch the footy, winner! More info here.

7 – The Halton Castle, Mill Lane

One of Liverpool’s smallest pubs, the Halton Castle is a great little boozer that is always busy with locals. Just a few minutes walk from the centre of West Derby Village, get in early for a good seat and enjoy a Black Sheep and a natter. Find out more here.

8 – The Elephant, Woolton Village

Who said a night in the pub couldn’t be glam? The Elephant, Woolton Village is a village hot spot that feels comfortable the moment you walk in. Whether you fancy a pub tea, cocktails with the girls (jeans and nice top of course) or a pint with the lads, go here! More info and menus here.

9 – The Childe of Hale, Hale Village

Clock up a brisk winter walk to the Hale Lighthouse before stopping in for a warm through. It’s always Gin o clock at The Childe of Hale and when the wind howls past the window, there’s no where better to spend a few hours talking about old times and tucking into a 3 meat Sunday roast. Check it out here.

10 – The Railway, Tithebarn Street

Hailed as the best pub in the Liverpool business district, The Railway is a great pub for chilling after work. Loosen that tie and shake off the day with a drink, a bite to eat and a good natter. The Railway also do a belting hot chocolate if you need a warm through at lunchtime. Find out more here.
