10 things you need to know about Liverpool Comic Con 2018

For the fans, by the fans, Liverpool Comic Con is here and we can’t wait to get our ultimate geek fix.
This weekend the city will be invaded by the most iconic (and obscure) comic book, film and tv show characters that we know and love, as Liverpool Comic Con 2018 throws open it’s doors at Exhibition Centre Liverpool. The two-day extravaganza kicks off at 9am on Saturday and is bringing a stellar line up of international celeb stars, retro gaming, traders, meet and greets and of course one hell of a cosplay gathering.
The first Con event by the fans for the fans, here’s 10 things you need to know about Liverpool Comic Con 2018….
1 – PokĂ©mon Go! at Puffle Waffle
Liverpool Comic Con fun starts before you even reach the venue! Puffle Waffle, at Albert Dock, has created PokĂ©mon Waffles exclusive to Comic Con ticket-holders and all you have to do is visit Puffle Waffle at Albert Dock (located at Anchor Courtyard), present your Comic Con ticket, and when treat yourself to a tasty Puffle Waffle, you will receive a free PokĂ©mon cake pop – all made from scratch in store by the Puffle Waffle team – who will also be dressed up to welcome them! 2 – Who, What, Where and When?
Okay if you didn’t already know, Liverpool Comic Con takes place at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, which is situated on the Kings Dock area next to the Echo Arena. Doors open at 9am Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March 2018 ( early entry tickets start at 9am, standard admission at 11am). If you’re coming to the city for con, Exhibition Centre Liverpool is a 15 min walk through the city centre from Lime Street Station, a 20 minute cab ride from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and local buses stop across the road at Liverpool ONE bus station. Heads up – the weather forecast is looking a bit wet and queueing for entry is outdoors, watch your cape doesn’t get wet!Â
3 – Meet Your Heroes
Well this goes without saying! The Special Guest list for Liverpool Comic Con 2018 is off the scale and we can’t wait to meet our heroes. From The A Team’s Faceman, Dirk Benedict, to Mini Me, Verne Troyer, Ian McNiece, Lou Ferrigno, Manu Bennett, Adam Copeland, Hattie Ridgeway, Paul McGann, Sophie Aldred, Joonas Viljami Suotam and loads more. 4 – Plan Your Day
The team behind Liverpool Comic Con 2018 wants you to have an unforgettable con and have put together these handy schedules so you can catch your favourite stars throughout the weekend. Check out who is on the Comic Con 360 Live Stage which is free to enter and watch, and get your spot to watch the epic Cosplay Masquerade on Sunday at 3pm. What are you most looking forward to?
5 – Go Retro
There’s more than 50 retro arcade gaming cabs just waiting for your eager thumbs to hit that top score, plus tonnes of traders bringing cult and brand new comic book heroes and merch to Exhibition Centre Liverpool, with an estimated 40% of sellers, artists, writers, SFX specialists coming from the North West. Hit the ATM on the way down to the venue and go mad snapping up the best of the new generation comic book creators.
6 – Get Snappy
Don’t forget your camera to make sure you get as many cosplay meet up pics, selfies with the stars and don’t forget those incredible film sets and props too. Liverpool Comic Con has made an official statement after confusion about camera equipment being allowed into the venue: “Do not worry any event ran by Monoploy Events allows cameras and video cameras of any kind, in fact we encourage you to bring them to get free photo ops with the props.” Get Snappy!
7 – Cosplay For Days
If you’ve not spent this week in an absolute panic about finishing your cosplay outfit in time, are you even going to Liverpool Comic Con? The ultimate event for super fans to emulate their favourite character, Liverpool Comic Con has attracted fans from all over the country. 8 – Cosplay Weaponry Rules
With authentic Cosplay comes great responsibility and there’s obviously going to be a few rules about the impressive weaponry that accompanies some of the most famous characters. Obviously anything that would be illegal to carry in public is forbidden and Monopoly Events Staff &Â Security for the event and venue reserve the right to reject any weapon or prop if deemed likely to cause a nuisance. 9 – After Party
Want to continue the party after Liverpool Comic Con on Saturday? From 6pm you can kick back and celebrate all things Con at Revolucion De Cuba, Albert Dock, where for you’ll receive two free drinks and the chance to join Adam Edge Copeland, Manu Bennett and hundreds of other geeks and cosplayers for a night to remember. 10 – The Best Liverpool Comic Con yet!
For those that don’t already know, MCM Comic Con dropped the Liverpool event late last year, but luckily for us a super fan stepped in. North West event organiser and Comic Book enthusiast, Andrew Kleek CEO & Founder of Liverpool Comic Con who has family ties within Liverpool said, “I feel very passionate about making this one of the biggest comic con events in the country and have signed up to work with The ACC Liverpool Group and grow the event over the next 3 years.”
