11 alternative events you can treat your mum to this Mother’s Day in Liverpool

Going out for a meal is the usual favourite way to say thanks to your mum on Mother’s Day, but it doesn’t have to be the only way.


Liverpool has lots of other special events on and around March 22 to take your mum to, whether she loves a sing-a-long, deserves some relaxation ‘me time’ or just wants a good laugh on a night out.

Here’s 11 fun things you can treat your mum to if you fancy something a bit different …

1 - Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea with Cilla and the Sounds of the 60s at The Richmond (Sunday March 22)

Take your mum on a musical trip down memory lane to the Merseybeat era with one of its most famous daughters. Enjoy a 60s-themed afternoon tea and glass of prosecco as Hollie Parker Price recreates some of Cilla’s biggest chart hits including Anyone Who Had A Heart and You’re My World. 1pm-5pm.

2 - Mamma Mia Mother’s Day Brunch at Revolution, Cavern Quarter (Sunday March 22)

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme brunch after midday! Take your Mamma Mia to Revolution on Mother’s Day and you’ll get two hours of bottomless drinks including Aperol spritz & prosecco plus a brunch dish each – and there’s a live Abba tribute band on so you can be Dancing Queens all afternoon, 12-6pm.

3 - Mother’s Day Triple Headline Special at Hot Water Comedy Club (Sunday March 22)

Just for Mother’s Day, Hot Water Comedy Club on Hardman Street presents not just one headline comedian but three so you and your mum can get three times as many laughs. Manchester-based Freddy Quinne will be joined on the night by two surprise special guests. Doors at 6pm, show 7-9pm.

4 - Mother’s Day Pamper Event at John Lewis, Liverpool ONE (Saturday March 21)

Give your mum the gift of pampering at John Lewis. From 11am-4pm, treat her to a flash facial with Dermalogica, hand and arm massage with Rituals and a relaxing head, neck and shoulder massage with Aveda. Rituals and Aveda treatments are free, Dermalogica skinsolver is £10 or free with purchase.

5 - Big Fish Little Fish Mother’s Day family rave at Hangar 34, Greenland St (Saturday March 21)

Hit the dancefloor with your mum for the award-winning family rave Big Fish Little Fish. DJs Dave Booth and Les Calvert will be dropping all-time classic tunes and – because this one’s for all ages – there’ll also be confetti cannons and giant balloons, craft tables, a play area and baby chill-out space. 2-4.30pm.

6 - A daytrip with your mum (dates throughout the year)

10 - Motown Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea at The Shankly Hotel (Sunday March 22)

Bring some Motown magic into your mum’s Mother’s Day with a special Motown afternoon tea. There won’t just be dancing in the streets, there’ll be dancing on the Garden of Eden roof terrace to live entertainment, as well as sweet and savoury treats, a glass of fizz and a gift for mums. 1.30-4.30pm.

11 - Mother’s Day cabaret afternoon at The Sandon (Sunday March 22)

The Queen of Soho, Lady Seanna, is your host for what promises to be a riotous afternoon of laughs, dancing and singing at The Sandon in Anfield. There’ll be a two-course meal, Motown singer, DJ and – because mum deserves an extra treat! – drinks will be served by the butlers in the buff!
