11 First Dates in Liverpool that are sure to impress

Here at The Guide Liverpool we’re all a bit obsessed with Channel 4 series, First Dates and one or two of us might have even applied to star on the show….

But why go all the way to London to meet ‘The One’, when there’s a whole load of dating fun to be had right here on our door step? Whether you’re looking for a romantic meal for two, the back row of the cinema or something a bit more adventurous, the Liverpool dating scene has got it all. And while we’re right in the middle of the Summer of Love 67-17 celebrations, what better time to swerve ‘Netflix and Chill’ and give these First Dates a bash instead!

1 – Cosy up for cocktail at Filter & Fox

If you’re looking for an intimate setting to cosy up over cocktails, look no further than Duke Street bar and café, Filter & Fox. Low lights, chilled atmosphere and cute window seats. Check it out here.

2 – Bond over brunch at Milo

Milo Lounge, Lark Lane is easily one of the most laid back, welcoming eateries in Liverpool and we reckon a bit of flirting over brunch makes for a great first date. Menus and stuff here.

3 – Get a bit of hip actions going on at Ghetto Golf

Now apparently, ‘it’s all in the hips’ and there’s no better place to get up close and personal than Ghetto Golf. Practise your putt and stay late for cocktails in the new Birdie’s Bar for a memorable first date. Opening times here.

4 – Stroll the waterfront ’til sunset (or sunrise)

Okay so we’re not all minted and trying to impress on a budget isn’t easy. Luckily for us, we have a world class waterfront to wander aimlessly while getting to know your date. Start at Otterspool and work up and appetite for dinner at the Albert Dock! See what’s good here.

5 – Festival Fever, go VIP at LIMF

Why not discover some new music together or dance around like teens to your fave band this summer with a first date at a festival? Sunny days in the park, awesome tunes and the start of something special?

6 – See the city lights from up high at the Bell Tower

Score some serious first date points at an unlikely city venue with a twilight view of the city. Liverpool Cathedral runs late night Bell Tower tours on Thursdays, and the view of the city at night is definitely one to remember. Times and tickets here.

7 – Sweets for my sweet, share a dessert at Kaspas

We’re taking our cue from the great Walt Disney with this first date idea. Lady and the Tramp stole our hearts sharing a big old bowl of spaghetti and we’re curious to find out if love can blossom over a chocolate smothered waffle with cream and extra nuts?! Ohh err! Menus and opening times here.

8 – Be a brain tease with the pub quiz at Three Piggies

Join forces and take on the world (or maybe just a few people from Allerton) in the Three Piggies pub quiz and win yourself a second date’s worth of lovely meal vouchers! Nerdiness has never been so attractive so grab your pencils and chalk up who is the biggest brain box. All the details here.

9 – Old skool romance at Woolton Picture House

Film Guide 2017

Going back to basics needn’t lack imagination. The Woolton Picturehouse oozes charm and offers up a much more intimate setting to watch the latest blockbuster. Get on the back row, load up on the popcorn and and throw the arm around the shoulders yawn move….go on we dare you! Listings info here.

10 – Impress with a touch of decadence at Carpathia

Us Scousers love to dress up and a first date at the stunning Carpathia Restaurant at 30 James Street is hard to beat when it comes to decadence. The views over the Pier Head and Albert Dock are unrivalled, the champagne is cold and you’ll be bringing your A game with a first date here. Book your table here.

11 – Dance into date two and join the party at Neighbourhood

First Dates

It’s all going on at Neighbourhood, Castle Street. For those who are in to tasty cocktails, banging beats and the chicest surroundings, a first date a Neighbourhood is for you. Get close at the bar and sample the latest signature cocktails while shaking your asses to the live sax and bongos. Listings and booth bookings here.

What was your best Liverpool date? A glamorous night out or a stroll around Sefton Park maybe? Awww how cute are you!? Tweet us @TheGuideLpool or email us info@theguideliverpool.com and we’ll share the love on our socials.
