14 Christmas grottos you can enjoy around Liverpool City Region

Here are the Christmas grottos you can enjoy this year across Liverpool City Region.

Christmas is just around the corner so it’s time to start planning some trips out with the kids.

Father Christmas will be visiting loads of locations in and around Liverpool city region over the next few weeks, telling stories, handing out gifts and ready to receive the all important gift lists.

From free Santa experiences to breakfast events and other special experiences, here are 14 places to meet the main man before Christmas.

Santa’s Grotto, Court Hey Park, Roby Road, Huyton, 10th December

Friends of Court Hey Park

The kids can visit Santa in his grotto at the Court Hey Park Christmas Cracker event from 12.30-3pm.

There will also be a tinsel trail, raffle, name the penguin, face painting, a craft workshop and much more. 

And for the adults, Esposito’s Deli is now at Court Hey so you can pop in for a coffee to escape the festive stress.

Santa’s Grotto, Acorn Farm, Kirkby, 9th-10th December

Acorn Farm

Santa will be in his grotto in Acorn Farm on the weekend of 9th and 10th December. Tickets are priced at £6 which includes a wrapped present for the kids.

You can see the rest of the farm and its animals while you are visiting. There will also be a Christmas market on 10th December.

Santa’s Grotto, Church Square, St Helens, 25th and 26th November and from 2nd-23rd December on various days

Santa Claus is coming to Church Square and will be visiting with his head elf and handing out chocolate treats.

This is a free experience for all to enjoy.

Santa’s Grotto, Sefton Meadows Garden Centre, Maghull, 25th November – 24th December

Explore the winter wonderland with the kids and visit Santa’s grotto at Sefton Meadows with a gift from Santa, worth up to £7.99. 

You can also book a separate Magical Sleigh Ride in virtual reality.

Tickets for the grotto are £11.99 for children with up to two adults free.

Santa’s Grotto, Churchtown, Southport, 26th November

Before he switches on the Christmas lights in Churchtown, Santa will be in his grotto to meet the kids during this magical day of fun.

As well as a grotto visit, kids can enjoy live entertainment, a dog show, rides and food and drinks.

Head to Botanic Road in Churchtown from 12 noon for all the fun.

Join Father Christmas for a fabulous morning of festive fun, delicious breakfast and a gift for every child. 

Breakfast with Santa will take place on 2nd, 9th, 16th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd December at 8.30am.

Story time with Santa, Vale Park, New Brighton, 16th-24th December

Now in its 12th year this show will bring the magic of Christmas alive as children will be captivated by traditional and modern stories as well as plenty of festive songs to join in with, in what promises to be a fun experience for the whole family.

Every child will have the opportunity to talk to Santa and give him their Christmas wishes and will also receive a festive gift. 

Tickets £19 with up to two free adults per child, no ticket required.

Santa Experience, Church Farm, Thurstaston, Wirral, from 25th November – 23rd December

The Santa Experience at Church Farm sees the man himself in residence on the following dates and at these prices:

Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th November, tickets £14 per person; Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December, tickets £15 per person; Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December, tickets £16 per person; Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December, tickets £17 per person; Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd December, tickets £18 per person.

The experience is a magical family trip to see Santa with his friends the elves, Jingle from The North Pole Postal Service, and his real reindeer.

The farm will be lit up for songs, dancing and audience participation with the folk from the North Pole. Plus chocolate gifts for children.

The route is brand new for 2022 and includes a tractor ride, walking routes and a journey into the reindeer barn. 

Each paying child will also receive a chocolate gift from Santa and a marshmallow to toast on the fire.

There will be a refreshment area just before the experience starts where you can buy drinks and snacks and there will also be some photo points set up too. 

The free under two ticket doesn’t include personalisation, a chocolate gift or marshmallow. If you would like these then just book your under two in as a child.

Gordale Garden Centre, Chester High Road, Wirral, 2nd-23rd December

Enjoy a visit to see Santa at the Winter Wonderland Charity Santa’s Grotto.

This is a charity grotto run by The Hospice of the good Shepherd, who receive 100% of the ticket price.

The grotto opens 11am on Saturday 2nd December and will run until Saturday 23rd December.

National Waterways Museum Festive Boat Trip and Santa’s Grotto, Ellesmere Port, weekends from 2nd December

This is a truly unique way to visit Santa in his grotto this Christmas with the National Waterways Museum’s Festive Boat Trip Experience.

Jump on board the festive narrowboat with one of the elves and help Santa find his missing presents.

Once you’ve found them all, the elves will entertain with Christmas jokes and puzzles before inviting you to sing Christmas songs and jingle Christmas bells all the way back to Santa’s Grotto at the museum.

After the boat trip the kids can meet Santa before choosing a present to take home.

Santa’s Grotto, Tatton Park, Cheshire, 25th November – 24th December 

As well as meeting Santa in his grotto, the children can enjoy roaming entertainers, live music with festive choirs and brass bands, and stop off for a tasty treat in the Christmas Cafe. 

Tickets are strictly limited to see Father Christmas and must be booked online in advance.

Santa’s Grotto, Otterspool Adventures, Liverpool, weekends until Christmas

Visit Santa in his grotto and experience even more magic of Christmas at this event.

Enjoy up to three hours of activities plus unlimited play on the ice rink and attractions.

Tickets include a visit to see Santa in his grotto and a gift, visiting the elves’ Make a Bear workshop, a festive show and gingerbread decorating with Mrs Claus.

Santa’s Grotto, John Lewis, Liverpool, 23rd November – 24th December

One of our favourite new Christmas grottos is this one. Kids can work their way through the interactive grotto, with the help of Santa’s mischievous little helpers. Complete the mission and they will meet Santa, have their photo taken and receive a gift.

Tickets cost £20 per child (plus a £2 booking fee) which include a toy worth £10, £2 per adult plus a 20p booking fee. Professional photographs are available to purchase separately.
