7 things you can do around Liverpool City Region with all the family this Easter

The Easter holidays are here and with the kids off school and a decent weather forecast there’s no better time to enjoy a day out.

We’ve rounded up seven of the best outings to enjoy this Easter break with the family around Liverpool City Region.

Southport Market, 7th and 8th April

Easter - Southport Market - The Guide Liverpool

Head to Southport Market this Easter for an Egg’tastic Adventure.

Tickets are £9 per child plus booking fee (adults go free), and the kids can enjoy a live interactive show Colin and His Egg’tastic Adventure,where Colin the chick and his pals Bunny, Grasshopper an Mouse embark on their Easter Adventure.

There will be free face painting, fun and photo opportunities with the cast.

Various time slots available and kids can enjoy 90 minutes of entertainment.

Children must be accompanied by an adult and the behaviour of children is the adults responsibility.

Food and drink from the Southport Market traders can be enjoyed at the event

National Trust Formby, 7th April, 11am

Take time out to enjoy Formby’s wonderful wildlife. Join Paul the Community and Participation Manager on a short and gentle walk – a great way to boost your well-being by connecting with nature and people.

The event if free and open to all, including dogs. Meet at Lifeboat Road car park notice board.

Wear weather appropriate clothing and walking boots.

Bring a bottle of water.

No need to book simply turn up on the day.

Sunnyfields Farmers Market, Hightown, 16th April

Easter

This popular farmer’s market is back for another great event.

There will be the usual selection of local makers and creators, as well as a BBQ, hot drinks, and a fully-stocked butcher’s counter.

There will also be lots of spring bedding plants on sale.

It will take place on Sunday 16th April from 10am – 3pm

Sunnyfields, Hightown, North End Lane, L38 4JB.

Acorn Farm, Kirkby, until 16th April

Acorn Farm has small animal petting sessions and horse rides on everyday until Sunday 16th April. Small animal petting sessions run from 10.30am and horse rides from 1.30pm. 

No booking is necessary. Tickets are available to buy from the kiosk from 10am.

Easter Duck Trail, Martin Mere, Burscough, Lancashire, until 16th April

Easter

Enjoy a day out at the Martin Mere wetlands while the family enjoy the Easter Duck Trail.

Explore the unique surroundings as you hunt for 25 bright yellow ducks and their friends and discover more about Martin Mere’s real life ducks.

Each little hunter will be given an activity sheet on arrival, which will take them on a trail around the grounds. Search high and low, and use all of your hide-and-seek skills, to find the giant yellow visitors. It’s £1 a go and there’s a tasty treat if you find them all.

As well as the Easter Duck Trail, families can get creative in our craft room. Buy a rubber duck, colour it in and then bring it back to the centre on Bank Holiday Monday 1 May to enter it into the Annual Duck Race.

Chester Zoo Mini Ranger Easter Holiday Club

The kids can explore the amazing animals, habitats and the remarkable conservation work, taking place all around the world during a range of Easter themed activities. 

At Easter camp primary school children (years one-three) can learn about the science of eggs, have a go at trying to match animals to their eggs, and even get stuck into some egg-celent crafts.

The timetables and activities will be flexible according to the group’s needs.

Benty Farm Tearooms, Thurstaston Woods, Wirral, 3rd – 10th April

eASTER

The Easter Egg Hunt this will be running from 3rd April until Easter Monday. 

All children will receive a chocolate egg or an Easter sticker book at the end of the hunt, and this will be £5 per child.

In addition to this, there will be two story explorers sessions on the 11th and 12th April, at 10am, 11:15am, 2pm, 3.15pm. Each session will include 30 minutes story time and a Benty Farm Easter egg hunt and this is £10 per child.
