Mother’s Day in Liverpool is always huge with parties across the city and lots of great food for your mum to enjoy!
Mum’s the word on March 15 this year, so it’s time to get planning a very special treat. A three-course meal, a fab afternoon tea, a party – or something different again?!
There’s loads going on so, for those still pondering what to do this Mother’s Day, here’s a few fab ideas (and don’t forget, the best bit is you get to go too!).
Municipal Hotel & Spa Liverpool

Make your mum feel like a queen with a relaxed and elegant Mother’s Day Sunday Lunch in the Seaforth Restaurant. You can enjoy a beautifully prepared seasonal menu with two to three courses for £69 and £75 respectively, and gorgeous dishes including locally smoked salmon or goats cheese pearls for starters, and mains featuring pan seared seabass fillet and roast leg of Herdwick lamb. If your mum loves a laugh, this one is definitely for her with the chance to spend the afternoon with one of Liverpool’s comedy legends. Crissy Rock & Friends Mother’s Day Special is a chance to catch up with Crissy as she brings her straight-talking humour to the stage with a fun event your mum will be talking about long after any flowers are gone. It starts at 4pm (but doors open at 2.30pm so you can get the drinks in).

From breakfast to lunch you can treat your mum in the gorgeous bistro set within Greenbank Park. There are two special Mother’s Day menus with Breakfast In Bloom offering an amazing three course breakfast with a champagne cocktail and tea or coffee for £35pp, and Lunch in Style, a luxurious four course menu including chicken tikka skewers and wild mushroom parfait to start, and Goosnargh Chicken and Supreme and Boeuf Bourguignon for mains at £49 per person. There are two experiences to choose from at the Victoria Street Hotel from a Magic Mike Mother’s Day Special to a Mother’s Day Sunday Lunch & Musician. If you want to spice up the day with Magic Mike – it also includes a Sunday Roast and glass of fizz! – that’s £49.95 per person between 12.30-5pm, and if a more sedate Sunday lunch with music is more her thing, then you can treat your mum for £27.95.

Cinema at Hope Street Hotel

Hope Street Hotel isn’t just a gorgeous place to stay or eat, it’s got its own 39-seater cinema too with a bar and either squishy armchairs or sofas for two to watch the film from. This Mother’s Day it’s got a special Sunday afternoon screening of the 80s classic Dirty Dancing. The Cinebar opens at 3pm for pre- film drinks ahead of the screening at 4pm.

Barnacle’s all set to celebrate Mother’s Day in the beautiful Grade II listed Old Blind School building on Hardman Street.
For Mother’s Day, there are five specials on offer from Wednesday, March 11 to Sunday, March 15 as well as the main menu – so there’s plenty of choice for anyone who wants to start celebrating early.
And, if you’re there on Mother’s Day itself, there’s a free glass of fizz (or a non-alcoholic alternative) for every mum.
Barnacle’s Sunday roast service is also the talk of the town and available on Mother’s Day.

As locations go, Oh Me Oh My facing the Liver Building takes some beating and its known for its themed afternoon teas. On Sunday 15 th it has a special Mother’s Day edition of its Twinkle Afternoon Tea with cute sandwiches, homemade cakes, pastries and fluffy scones (vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available), and it’s partnered with Jo Malone London to make the day even better! Its Mother’s Day Breakfast from 9.30am starts with a Bucks Fizz or elderflower and apple spritz, then breakfast dishes and mini pastries, for £29.50. Spend Mothering Sunday afternoon exploring one of Liverpool’s historic gems, Sudley House in Mossley Hill, and enjoying activities and singing the whole family can join in. The singing mamas group is on at 1.30pm and 2.30pm, you could plant wildflower seeds to take home and make a unique card using simple mono-printing techniques at 1 – 4pm.

Let mum be a Dancing Queen because she’s a Super Trouper all year round. There’s Abba fun on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons of March 14 and 15 with a special afternoon tea at 1.30pm and 5.30pm. Savour a scrumptious afternoon tea at the glorious Palm House in the midst of its glorious botanical collection. Bean There will be supplying the delicious afternoon tea with cakes, scones and a selection of sandwiches, and there’ll be background music and fizz available from the bar (which will be stocked with some extra special treats). Sit down at 12.30pm or 3.30pm. Served between 12-4pm, it’s £69 person for a menu that will absolutely knock her socks off. On arrival you’ll be greeted with a glass of Henners English sparkling wine to toast Mum, served with Sandham’s mature Lancashire cheese scones with red onion & beetroot jam & infused vegan cream cheese and Gordal olives and, after an amuse bouche, you can look forward to starters including gateau of confit goose leg and potatoes with Tomlinson rhubarb, blood orange purée & early spring leaves, and Delice of Loch Etive sea trout with sorrel sauce, spinach, compressed cucumber, keta caviar and lovage oil, and mains featuring roast rack of salt-aged Cumbrian Saddleback pork with gratin of leek & purple-sprouting broccoli, roast ratte potatoes, caramelised shallot puree and Granny Smith apple, sage & green peppercorn jus and stuffed roast breast of corn-fed guinea fowl, puree, Jersey Royals, “mélange” of wild mushrooms, baby leek, tarragon, green grape and verjus sauce.
