Three outdoor mazes across the region you should take on this Summer

Summer has officially started – the sun is shining and the kids are about to finish school for the long holidays.

Now is the time to start planning how to fill those long days until September.

One great way to spend a few hours of family fun is a trip to a maze. Get lost for a while, have some fun and use your mind to work out the route to the exit.

There are three great mazes near Liverpool that have been in the planning for months since the first maize was planted earlier this year.

Here are three maize mazes to try this Summer.

Brimstage Maze, Wirral (Opening July 19, 10am-6pm)

There has been a maze at Brimstage for more than 21 years with some brilliant themes over that time featuring everything from the Cheshire Cat to Collin The Caterpillar, a spaceship and the Yellow Submarine.

Last year the maze was a fun quiz-themed logo. So what will it be for 2025? 

Millions of corn kernels have been planted and thanks to the recent good weather, the maize plants are growing well.

By the time it opens on July 19, there will be maze high enough to get lost and have great fun, whatever your age.

You can also enjoy one of the ever popular ice creams from Maizy’s Parlour afterwards.

Maize Maze, Farmer Ted’s, Upholland, near Ormskirk (Opening July 19)

The popular farm park near Ormskirk is promising its most challenging maze ever.

Included in the price of entry, the maze is the biggest ever seen at Farmer Ted’s and is perfect for people who thrive on a challenge.

So, if you love puzzles and escape rooms then this is the maze for you. And you can combine it with a trip to the rest of the farm, meet animals, take a tractor ride or even meet Shaun the Sheep.

Tickets range in price from £7.25 for some children and concessions, through to £16.75 for adults. There are also family tickets available. Check the website for full prices and any special offers.

The Circus themed Maize Maze, Kenyon Hall Farm, Croft (Open now, 9:30am – 4:50pm every day)

The maize maze at Kenyon Hall Farm has a circus theme this year and is one of the popular mazes in the region.

Visitors are invited to wander through winding paths through the towering maize crop. 

Designed for all ages, the maze typically takes 20–30 minutes to complete and features five hidden characters for guests to find.

Along the way, you’ll encounter a stilt‑walking scarecrow, a sunflower plate spinner, and a host of other circus‑style characters.

It is priced at £3.95 per person. Infants under 18 months are free, and family discounts are available.
