Anfield hotel unveils amazing new mural of King Kenny

An Anfield hotel has unveiled a giant new mural of LFC legend Sir Kenny Dalglish capturing some of his most famous banners, headlines and photos.
The ARC Hotel on Anfield Road has dedicated an entire wall to King Kenny’s incredible Reds career.
And it’s already had two VIP visitors to see the completed artwork – Alan Spearritt and his son Ryan.
Alan was the Liverpool fan who, back in 1978, created the original ‘Kenny’s from Heaven’ banner which features on the new mural and the pair were happy to bring it along now it’s part of such a special tribute.
A team from Urban Canvas spent three weeks completing the huge montage which replaces a previous mural showing Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler and Virgil Van Dijk.
Hotel manager Jade Lee says when it came time to refresh that, Sir Kenny was the obvious choice.

She says:
“Our original mural had been up since we got the property in 2016 and Jamie Carragher actually came out and signed that. But over the years the flags had gone yellow and it had started to look a bit tired so we thought it was time to update it.
“A few months ago we approached Urban Canvas’ owner Anthony Donnelly after we saw their work on Instagram.
“We wanted this one to be all about Kenny because he’s more than just a brilliant player, he’s done so much for the city. He’s a man of the people, and he goes down with the likes of Shankly, so we wanted something amazing.
“We sent Anthony a few ideas and then they added more, like all the newspaper headlines, so it really tells a story and it’s such a wow factor.

“We’ve only just taken down the scaffolding but we’ve already had so many people commenting on it and resharing it, including Jamie Carragher.”
Jade says although the mural will definitely be a big attraction for fans taking photos over the summer, they are planning to have an official unveiling on the first home game of the season.
“Once the fixtures are announced tomorrow, on the first home game of the season we want to do a grand reveal, with free food and drink, and we’re going to reach out to Kenny to see if we can get him to sign it.
“The lads from Urban Canvas worked day and night to paint this and we’re so pleased with what they’ve done.
“As soon as we shared it on social, Alan’s son reached out to us through Instagram and said his dad had made the original banner in 1978, so they both came down and took a photo with that in front of Kenny’s from Heaven.
“We get fans from all over the world staying with us for matches so now they’ll have amazing pictures with one of the Liverpool greats to share.”
