Here’s how to spend the perfect Sunday in Liverpool….

Albert Dock

The Guide Liverpool

Royal Albert Dock Liverpool offers a day out in itself. Take a Sunday stroll around Tate Liverpool, enjoy a delicious breakfast at Peaberry Coffee House or an espresso to wake you up! Let the kids burn off some steam at Mattel Play! before tucking into a treat from Puffle Waffle. Get lost in Puzzleland at Escape Rooms, wander the many boutiques such as The Nest, The Leather Satchel Company, Lost Soles and more.

Learn the real Titanic story at Merseyside Maritime Museum before indulging in cocktails at Revolucion De Cuba and a heart dinner at The Smugglers Cove. More on what’s on at the Albert Dock here.

Museums

Liverpool has countless museums, the vast majority of which are free to enter. Head to Museum of Liverpool on the Pier Head to learn amazing historical facts about our city. International Slavery Museum charts Liverpool’s history with transatlantic slavery while World Museum, William Brown Street is home to incredible ancient Egyptian mummies, natural world and a fascinating planetarium that will transport you to distant galaxies.

More on our city museums here.

Knowsley Safari

Take a walk on the wild side this Sunday in Liverpool. Jump in the car and head to Knowsley Safari this Sunday. Take in the 5 mile drive safari and see lions, camels, white rhino, those cheeky monkeys and more. Park up and wander the foot safari where you can get close to giraffes, Amur tigers, meerkats and the amazing Arthur, Biffo, Roger and Louis – the cheeky Californian sea lions.

When it comes to feeding time for visitors, there are lots of delicious meals and snacks on offer and of course, plenty of ice creams too. Find out more about what’s on at Knowsley Safari here.

The finest Sunday Roast

No Sunday in Liverpool is complete without a cracking roast dinner. First up we’re recommending Ma Boyle’s Alehouse & Eatery where you’ll be served a fabulous roast with all the trimmings and a big old pot of silky smooth gravy TO DIP In! Oh yes, Ma Boyle’s famous Sunday Roast Fondu has to go on your to-do list.

Stanley’s Bar & Grill at Titanic Hotel offers a sensational 2 or 3 course roast dinner. Starting at just ÂŁ22.95pp you can tuck in to beef, chicken cod and roast sweetheart cabbage with teriyaki glaze followed by decadent desserts. Full menu and booking info here.

If you like your Sunday roast with a side of insta-worthy selfies and pics, it has to be The Florist. Head to this stunning Hardman Street venue for a Sunday Roast with style. Two courses is just £18.50 and you can add bottomless drinks for just £10pp. Menus here.

Sundays in Southport

Southport is the perfect Sunday destination. Whether it’s a walk along Southport Pier for an ice-cream and penny slots or a stroll along the miles of sandy beach. How about taking out a swan or sassy flamingo pedalo on Marine Lake?

Mini thrill seekers get their fix at Southport Pleasureland while the grown ups get to wander the Victorian boutique shops and tea rooms. Stop in at The Atkinson to see the latest exhibitions and kids crafts sessions before choosing one of the fabulous independent restaurants for a spot of lunch or dinner. Just lovely. More on Southport here.

New Brighton

What is it about seaside towns that just keep us coming back? New Brighton is and always will be a firm favourite for a local day out. Offering the most jaw-dropping views of the Liverpool skyline, New Brighton has something for everyone.

Blow away the cobwebs with a fresh air walk along the prom to Fort Perch Rock and The Black Pearl. Bubbles World of Play will save the day if the weather turns to rain, as will the Light Cinema with all the latest blockbusters. Wander round to Victoria Road to check out the new bars and restaurants before catching a show at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion or dancing the night away at Marine Street Social.

Baltic Pub Crawl

If there’s one place you’re guaranteed to have a boss Sunday, it’s around the Baltic Triangle. Stick a days leave in on Monday (or get your sick voice ready to make the call) and check out the many bars and pubs where you can let loose on the official day of rest. We’re starting at Birdie’s Bar with cocktails and a stomach liner from Apocalypse Cow. Over to Constellations for a chill and a spritzer in the garden and round to Botanical Gin Garden (in summer) to continue those lazy vibes.

Next up it’s Punch Tarmey’s to watch the match in a booth with our own telly. On to the Baltic Market for live music, bevs and those mad conversations with people you’ve never met before, next up its Dockleaf for the perfectly pulled pint. Still going? Okay, The Tank Room is next – boss live music and atmosphere, before round to Tusk Baltic for a bite to eat and a JD. Last but not least for us it has to be Bongo’s Bingo at Content and the hope of riding home on a mobility scooter. Who’s in?

Hit the Beach

Our coastline though, majestic isn’t it? Sunday walks with the dog, your better half, the kids, mates, family, whatever – they’re good for the soul. With so many miles of beach to choose from you could plan a walk every week for months without returning to the same one.

We love Crosby for those sunset walks with the Iron Men staring off into the distance. Formby sand dunes offer hours of free, fresh air fun for the kids and dogs alike. West Kirby is the showstopper with amazing views out to North Wales and beyond. Southport is another epic – on a clear day you can see Blackpool and North Wales. New Brighton’s Black Pearl is a jewel in the waterfront crown and who doesn’t love looking at that skyline across the Mersey?

Culture Vultures

Want to learn something new about our amazing city, maybe see if from a totally different perspective or explore the iconic landmarks you’ve never been inside? Culture vultures adore our city and its never ending fascination with history, entertainment and putting on a bloody go show!

Have you gotten up close and personal with the liver birds yet? RLB 360 invites you to see the city and our iconic, mythical birds in all their glory – from the roof! The clock tower audio-visual experience is truly magical. Sticking with the up-high theme, the view from the Anglican Cathedral bell tower roof is definitely one for the bucket list. For just ÂŁ5.50 you can see the inner workings of this incredible building and climb the steps to get a birds eye view of Liverpool.

Not forgetting our Metropolitan Cathedral. Quiet contemplation and seeing the sun stream through the phenomenal stained glass windows is also a must. We’re known as a city of music and what better way to while away a Sunday than with a trip to the BME. The British Music Experience at Cunard is home to an incredible collection of historical British music artefacts and exhibits plus loads of hands on activities suitable for all ages. Drums or karaoke booth anyone?

The oldest surviving building in central Liverpool – The Bluecoat and its secret garden is open from 11am – 3pm on Sundays. With galleries, shops and a cafe to enjoy, why not grab the Sunday papers or that crime thriller you’ve been trying to finish and claim a bench to chill?
