From the pools to the palladium, Vernons girls is coming to Liverpool’s Royal Court theatre this June.

“In Liverpool in the 1950s more than 6,000 women are working in Vernons, checking the pools coupons and enjoying singing in the choir.
In 1956 Rock n Roll explodes in Liverpool and the world changes. Suddenly these ordinary young scouse girls are performing for audiences in their hundreds and thousands all around the country and in the new and exciting world of TV.
Join 16 year old Peggy in a show that celebrates the sheer joy of being a teenager at such an exciting time. Glamour, celebrities and great music all combine for the birth of a Liverpool rock and roll story to match any other”.
The rehearsals have officially started and there is an exciting cast line up ready to take centre stage. Confirmed cast include Jamie Clarke (Scouse Sleeping Beauty), Jessica Dives, Tasha Dowd, Lynwen Haf Roberts, Caitlin Lavagna, Rebecca Levy, Abigail Middleton (Scouse Pacific), Lydia Morales Scully (You’ll Never Walk Alone), Emma Jane Moreton, Izzy Neish and Siobhan O’Driscoll. Also the man who directed ‘Two of us’ which was on at the beginning of the year, is back directing this new musical.
Writer Karen Brown says:
“Vernons Girls is a show about hopes, dreams and opportunities, Told through the eyes of an all-female cast who also play all the male characters. Vernons Girls takes us on a high energy journey of great music and fizzing dialogue against an undercurrent of misogyny, homophobia and the power of the establishment”
This is the story told by the girls who were there so come with them on their journey for a great night out.
