Andi Oliver is an award-winning chef and broadcaster. She is a regular face on our television screens as the host of the BBC’s Great British Menu.

If you are a fan of Squash, the award-winning community organisation based in Toxteth, then you may be aware that TV presenter and chef Andi Oliver is actually one of their patrons.

Squash is more than just a cafe they work alongside local residents, embracing art, creativity & food as essential tools to improve health and well-being. They first met Andi back in 2018 when Squash were celebrating the 10th anniversary of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture. Andi lead the creation of a huge feast for 100 local people, and she said that the people of Liverpool use food the same way she does – as a way of “bringing people together”.

Squash said:

“We have loved meeting and sharing ideas, values, hopes and dreams with Andi. All of us at Squash admire her love and passion for good food, her commitment to campaigning for social & healing justice, her awareness-raising around climate emergency and her bold and infectious enthusiasm for the wellbeing of community members.

“All at Squash have been big fans of Andi’s work for many years and we are delighted that she [joined] the Squash family in this vitally important ambassador role!”

Andi Oliver said:

“For a few years now I have been a huge fan of the brilliant community driven work that Squash Liverpool share with the world.

“I am truly honoured and thrilled to be officially joining forces with them to spread more sunshine light and of course fantastic food and feasts! I can’t wait to see what we do together!”

Now Andi is returning to Liverpool to promote her “long-awaited” first cookbook “The Pepperpot Diaries Stories From My Caribbean Table”. Featuring both traditional and new recipes, cherished ingredients and vibrant flavours from across the Caribbean, Andi explains how to create simple yet sensational dishes that will bring the unbeatable flavours of Caribbean cooking to your table.

She will be speaking about her book in Waterstones in Liverpool ONE on Thursday 22 June 2023, after the release of the book on 27 April 2023.

The talk will be on from 6.30pm to 8.00pm. Tickets are £5.00, or £4.00 if you’re a Waterstones card holder. The event can be booked here
