Check out what Grand Central Hall are doing for International Beatle Week

The world’s largest and longest-running Beatles festival returns to Liverpool this week and Grand Central Hall have big plans.

International Beatle week 2019 will feature 70 bands from 20 countries and is worth an estimated £2.8m to the city’s economy.

Fab Four fans from around 40 countries across the world, including Brazil, Russia, the US, Spain and the Netherlands, will converge on the Mersey for the seven-day event which is organised by Cavern City Tours.

This year marks 50 years since the release of Abbey Road and 60 years since the Casbah Club was opened by Mona Best – mother of The Beatles’ first drummer Pete Best – in West Derby. Both landmark anniversaries will be celebrated at events between August 21-27, as will the Mathew Street Festival which ran alongside Beatle week for 20 years until it was cancelled in 2013.

Grand Central Hall on Renshaw Street will host two events across 2 days of the festival in their fantastic dome theatre. This Friday will see America’s finest “The Fab Four” who will WOW all with their full show spanning the entire career of the Beatles starting at 8pm.

Monday from midday will see the city celebrate Mathew Street Festival with the theme LIVER AID which will evoke so many memories of the halcyon days form 1993- 2003. Some tickets are still available now for this day of Beatles music priced at £20 for the day.

A former Methodist church, former cinema and former home to the Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra, to name but a few of the building’s past iterations, Grand Central now houses a 47 room hotel, a bustling food bazaar and, its crowning glory, the 1,300 capacity Grand Central Hall, where the heart of the Irish Festival will take place.

Grand Central Owner Maureen Bramwell said “We are over the moon to have teamed up with Bill Heckle and the Cavern City Tours to be part of this fantastic week celebrating all Fab Four. This year marks 50 years since Abbey Road also so it should add that extra special edge to the week.”
