Eurovision Handover 2023 live in Liverpool

The Eurovision handover from Turin to Liverpool takes place tonight, live from Liverpool.

The Eurovision handover kicks everything off in Liverpool as we countdown to the final on the Saturday 13 May 2023.

The live show will be broadcast on BBC2 from 7pm on Tuesday 31 January and it will be hosted by Rylan and AJ Odudu.

The Eurovison 2023 branding

The Eurovision logo and slogan have been revealed. The new slogan demonstrates the unique partnership between the UK, Ukraine and host city Liverpool to bring the 2023 Contest to audiences across the globe and the incredible power of music to bring communities together.

It also reflects the very origins of the contest, developed to bring Europe closer together through a shared TV experience across different countries.

With over 160 million viewers watching last year, the look of the vibrant, wider identity celebrates this shared cultural experience as ‘millions of hearts beat as one’. Inspired by the Ukrainian and UK flags, the colours used are designed to reflect the joy and diversity of the contest.

Martin Green CBE, Managing Director, Eurovision Song Contest 2023, BBC:

“The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be a truly special event and the creative look is a big part of creating that magic. This year’s identity sums up perfectly the amazing partnerships across the Contest and more importantly the power of music to bring people together across the world.”

The live show

The Mayor of 2022 Host City Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, will hand over the official keys of the Eurovision Song Contest, known as the Insignia, to the Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson.

The allocation draw is also held to determine which country will compete in which Semi-Final of the Contest when it takes place in May, as well as deciding which Semi-Final the ‘Big 5’ – Spain, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy – and 2022 winners, Ukraine, will vote in.

The event will be broadcast live to BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. You will also be able to follow the event as it unfolds with live text commentary on the BBC News website live page.
