Everything you need to know about River of Light 2017

Who’s up for a world class fireworks show on both sides of the Mersey this weekend?

River of Light returns to Merseyside this weekend as thousands of Scousers and Wirralites flock to the waterfront to celebrate all things big, bright and loud. One of the UK’s most successful fireworks companies, Titanium Fireworks has been working closely with Liverpool and Wirral councils to develop a show and soundtrack like we’ve never seen before. Get ready to wrap up warm and ooooooh and ahhhhhhh! Here’s all the key info you need to plan your River of Light Bonfire Night fun, on both sides of the Mersey.

When is it on?

River of Light returns to the Mersey on Sunday 5th November 2017. The fireworks display, out on the river begins at 6:30pm but street entertainment, family activities and food and drink stalls will be kicking off from 4pm at various sites across the Liverpool and Wirral waterfront.

Where can we watch the fireworks?

There are two fireworks displays taking place this year, one viewable from the Liverpool waterfront and the other off New Brighton Promenade. Head down to Mann Island Atrium from 4pm to see exciting street theatre performances, grab something tasty to eat and grab your spot to watch the River of Light fireworks show at 6:30pm. For those on the Wirral, New Brighton promenade is offering neon face painting, entertainment and food an drink along the promenade, also from 4pm.

Best Places to See and Hear the Spectacle

The best thing about River of Light is that its FREE to watch and with such an open waterfront area, there’s plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the show. From the Liverpool side of the Mersey, you can line the waterfront from Princes Parade (in front of Malmaison and the Liverpool Cruise Terminal) all the way along to just before the Echo Arena. This stretch of waterfront is the prime viewing area and you’ll be able to hear the accompanying fireworks soundtrack too.

From Wirral, wrap up warm and arrive early and get yourself a prime spot around New Brighton’s Marine Lake from Marino Lounge around to Fort Perch Rock and prepare for a spectacle like no other.

What else is on?

Family entertainment takes places on both sites from 4pm including face painting, fire and drumming performances, lantern making workshops, The Lantern Parade makes a welcome return and you can even try your hand at light painting too. Click here for 8 things the kids can do at River of Light.
