St George’s Hall Liverpool is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new series of guided Film Tours, inviting visitors to step behind the scenes of some of cinema and television’s most celebrated productions.

Curated in collaboration with Liverpool Film Office, the tours will be led by the Hall’s expert guides and will take visitors on an immersive journey through the iconic spaces that have doubled as everything from the streets of Prohibition-era Birmingham to the world of blockbuster fantasy and gritty period drama. Productions filmed at St George’s Hall include Peaky Blinders, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The House of Guinness, Head of State, and many more.

The tours follow the recent publication of the Liverpool Film Office’s Impact Report which revealed record growth in the Liverpool City Region’s film and TV industry since 2019, with more than 1,600 productions investing £150m into the local economy, creating over 5.400 full-time equivalent jobs and supporting local business.

The Hall’s grand interiors, eerie cells, storied courtrooms and striking exterior have proven an irresistible backdrop for filmmakers time and again. Guests will discover behind-the-scenes stories from productions, explore the specific locations used in key scenes, and gain a unique new perspective on a building that has graced Liverpool’s cultural life for over 170 years.

The new film tours represent a bold step in connecting the building’s extraordinary story with the popular culture moments that have brought it to global audiences, sitting alongside the Hall’s established programme of heritage tours, events, and cultural programming as part of a continued commitment to expanding and evolving its visitor offering, ensuring it remains as relevant and exciting to contemporary audiences as it is historically significant.

The inaugural tours will take place across three dates in May, with further dates to be announced.
