BBC Radio Merseyside’s Dave Monks to showcase Liverpool’s up and coming musicians at Pier Head Village this Saturday

Champion of the unsigned act, BBC Radio Merseyside’s Dave Monks will be taking over the Sound City stage at Pier Head Village this Saturday (July 29), with a free celebration of new music from across the region.

The mini-music festival will be headlined by The Night Café, who last week shared the main stage at Truck Festival alongside The Libertines and Liverpool’s-own The Wombats. They will be joined on stage by other local favourites including 50ft Warrior, The Boston Shakers, Red Rum Club and Nina Jade.

As well as the great music, visitors can make an afternoon of it at the Pier head Village, with plenty of great food, drink, thrill rides and culture on offer at the summer-long waterfront attraction.

Managing director, Martin O’Shea, said:

“Liverpool is a city that loves its music, and you don’t have to look far on the Pier Head to find a reference to the city’s most iconic band, with the Fab Four statue just metres away from our main archway.

“Dave Monks has a great reputation for bringing through the most exciting artists in the region and I can’t wait to see them all perform on Saturday. No less than 14 acts will be performing during the day!

“We’re looking to create a festival atmosphere at the Pier Head Village for the event, and with so many fantastic bands included in the line-up, there really is something for all music lovers to enjoy!”

Dave Monks, said:

“When I was asked to create this event at Pier Head Village with their team, I instantly knew that it was going to be something special. There are so many top musicians in the city at the moment, so to give them all such a top platform to showcase their talents on is very exciting.

Dave Monks

“This is a great time to be a musician in the city, and on the back of LIMF, I urge music lovers young and old to come down to the Sound City Bar at the Pier Head on Saturday to listen to bands who may well be performing at the biggest festivals in the UK over the next couple of years.”

The festival is from 12.30pm-8pm.
