The Liverpool Hospitality People Awards celebrate the best and brightest talent in the Liverpool hospitality industry.

Hugh Baird College’s L20 Hotel School is thrilled to announce that its head chef, Anthony Wright, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Head Chef of the Year’ award at this years ceremony – which took place at the Titanic Hotel on March 30.

Anthony Wright has been the Head Chef at Hugh Baird College’s L20 Hotel School since 2018. Under his stewardship, the L20 Hotel School and Restaurant has become known for its innovative, modern cuisine that celebrates the best of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Anthony’s passion for cooking and dedication to his craft has inspired not only his team but also the students who train at the College.

Anthony Wright said:

“I am honoured and humbled to receive this award. I am proud to be a part of this incredible community and grateful for the opportunity to showcase our passion for food and hospitality.”

The Liverpool Hospitality People Awards are an annual event that celebrates the outstanding contributions of individuals and businesses in the Liverpool hospitality industry. The ‘Head Chef of the Year’ award recognises a head chef’s exceptional culinary skills, creativity, and leadership in Liverpool’s vibrant food scene.

Martin Hedley, director of curriculum at Hugh Baird College’s L20 Hotel School, said:

“We are really proud of Anthony and the entire team at L20 Hotel School. Anthony’s passion for food and dedication to his craft is second to none, and this award is a true testament to his exceptional talent as a chef.”

“The ethos of the L20 Hotel School is to provide exceptional education and training to the next generation of hospitality professionals. To do this, we need to have the best in the business, and we are fortunate to have them here.”

Steven Hesketh, vice-chair of Liverpool Hospitality, said:

“After an unprecedented period of challenges in the hospitality industry over the past couple of years, it’s incredible to see how the industry has fought back and the individuals and teams that have worked so tirelessly to help the sector get back on its feet.

“We were blown away by the number of entries we received  this year, showing how many hard-working and deserving individuals there are in the industry.”
