Ket Wigs to be banned from Liverpool City Centre

Liverpool businesses and organisations have come together to rid the city centre of the unkempt hair trend once and for all.

The hair trend popular among teenage boys on Merseyside has come under fire once again as Liverpool businesses, organisations and tourist spots join forces to rid the city centre of the so-called ‘Ket Wig’ in an attempt to bring a touch of class back to what was once ‘the Paris of Northern England’.

The bushy, frizzy barnets, given the name ‘Ket Wig’ as the notion of not paying for a hair cut and instead growing out these bird-nest-type hair styles, would allow wearers spare cash to buy ketamine. The hair ‘style’ has plagued the region for a number of years and city centre businesses have hand enough of them. From 1st May 2018 anyone sporting a bushy, curly, unkempt, frizzy Ket Wig of more than 5″ in length, from root to split ends, will be banned from entering the city centre.

The city-centre boundary is as follows:

Lime Street, Mount Pleasant, Hope Street, Upper Duke Street, Duke Street, New Quay, The Strand, Leeds Street and William Brown Street where the boundary re-joins Lime Street at the main train station.

One city business owner, who does not want to be identified said: “Honestly it’s gotten beyond a joke, we’ve had lads in here who can’t even see properly, so how they know what they’re buying, I’ve got no idea. One lad walked into a mirror at one point, it’s getting silly now and it’s time someone stepped in to put a stop to it.”

City Ambassadors will be on hand to escort anyone sporting a Ket Wig to the boundary of the city centre limit from 1st May 2018, alternatively you can be escorted to one of a number of city barbers who are offering discounted rates for those wanting to get rid of their Ket Wig and rejoin the city centre community.

We want to hear your views on the Ket Wig ban in Liverpool City Centre. Send us your thoughts and if you’ve had the chop, send your transformations pics to us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and we’ll share the best on our socials.
