Liverpool defender Konate agrees new deal with Real Madrid

France defender Ibrahima Konate has agreed a four-year deal to join Real Madrid when his Liverpool FC contract expires.
The 27-year-old will depart from Liverpool FC at the end of June, bringing to an end a five-year stay at the Premier League club.
Jose Mourinho’s side said they have reached an agreement with Konate “for him to become a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, until 30 June, 2030″.
Liverpool FC had been eager for the centre-back to stay but no agreement could be reached over wages and it was confirmed in May he would be moving on.
He made 183 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool after joining from RB Leipzig for £35million, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
Following the conclusion of Liverpool’s season, he said he had been “deeply saddened” at not having the chance to say goodbye to supporters at Anfield.
At the time the team played their final game of the season against Brentford, Konate’s future was still to be decided.
Konate becomes Real Madrid’s second defensive recruit from the Premier League this summer following the capture of left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea.
