Former home of Jurgen Klopp sold for a huge 7 figure sum

One of the most famous properties in Merseyside has finally been sold.

The Formby mansion that was home to Jurgen Klopp now has a sold sign outside, two years since the league winning manager quit Liverpool.

The six bedroomed house in Formby’s millionaire’s row has been on the market since October 2024 and is believed to have changed hands for a whopping £4 million.

The sale comes days after Andoni Iraola was named the new Liverpool manager after the sacking of Arne Slot. But the new owners are unknown.

The impressive house has a separate glass built swimming pool and gym complex at the end of the back garden, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and four reception rooms.

It sits in large landscaped gardens behind secure gates and includes a large entrance hall, huge open-plan kitchen, dining room, and family areas.

Upstairs, the master suite features two dressing rooms, an en-suite bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the garden. There is also a cinema room and a luxury spa room.

At the time of it first being listed, estate agent William Goulden said:

“This is an exceptional home in a beautiful part of the country. Many will be aware of the property’s recent history.”

Property website Rightmove reported the house as being one of the most viewed listings of 2024.

Klopp moved into the luxurious home in Victoria Road in 2015 with his wife Ulla.

The couple became part of the local Formby community, often being spotted at the local pub The Freshfield or walking their dog in the local parks and on the nearby sands of Formby beach.

The house was built for Liverpool player Steven Gerrard and was said to be the biggest house built in Formby in 90 years.

Gerrard sold it to Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers in 2012. Rodgers rented it to Klopp, then sold the house to LFC and the German coach and his family lived there until they swapped Formby for Majorca.

Slot chose not to live in the house when he joined after Klopp’s departure and the club put the property up for sale. It was orginally priced at £4.25 million but it is understood the price had been dropped earlier this year when it wasn’t selling.

It is believed to have been sold earlier this month with the sold sign going up earlier this week.

Andoni Iraola was recently appointed as the new Liverpool head coach, read more here.
