North Liverpool teacher swaps the classroom for Baby Sensory classes

A former primary school teacher from North Liverpool has swapped life in the classroom for a new role supporting local babies and their families after taking over Baby Sensory North Liverpool.

After years working in education, much of it in Early Years settings, Molly Unsworth has stepped into a new chapter following the birth of her daughter. Now, she is bringing her professional knowledge and personal experience to Baby Sensory classes in Aintree and Crosby.

Molly has spent most of her career helping young children learn and develop and also holds a degree in Early Childhood. But she says becoming a parent gave her a whole new appreciation for the importance of a baby’s first year.

She said: “It’s one thing learning about child development in a lecture theatre or classroom. It’s another when you’re watching your own baby change and learn almost every day. You suddenly find yourself paying attention to things you might never have noticed before.”

It was while attending Baby Sensory sessions with her daughter that Molly began to see the classes from a different perspective.

Designed for babies from birth to 13 months, the sessions combine sensory play, music, movement and interactive activities, all based on research into early childhood development.

Molly said: “The educational side stood out immediately. Everything had a reason behind it. As someone who has worked in education for years, I really valued that. It wasn’t just entertaining babies. There was real thought and expertise behind what families were being shown.”

After getting to know previous owner Katie and learning more about the business, Molly decided to take over the North Liverpool franchise herself.

As well as helping babies explore and learn, she believes the classes offer something equally important for parents.

She said: “The first year can sometimes feel quite lonely, especially if your friends are at different stages of life. Having somewhere local to go, seeing familiar faces each week and sharing experiences with other parents can make a huge difference.”

Baby Sensory North Liverpool currently runs classes in Aintree and Crosby for babies from birth to 13 months, offering families the chance to learn, play and connect in a welcoming environment.
