Owen Drew launches festive candle in memory of Christmas-loving founder

Award-winning candle brand bring back classic Christmas fragrances in honour of founder Drew Cockton.

Wirral based candle company, Owen Drew, have brought back a range of their classic Christmas candles in a touching tribute to their founder, Drew Cockton.

The visionary candle entrepreneur, who passed away suddenly last month aged just 36, was passionate about the Christmas period, and focussed much of his creativity into developing a range of evocative scents that would ‘bring back a sense of Christmas past.’

The magical range, which includes the highly acclaimed Eighteen Forty-Three fragrance, which was created in honour of Charles Dickens’ most famous festive novel, A Christmas Carol, is packed full of traditional seasonal scents, all designed to glow for up to 30 hours.

Speaking about the Christmas Collection, Drew’s business partner and best friend Mike Skeggs commented: 

“Christmas without Drew is going to be extremely tough for me personally, Drew’s family and friends, and the whole team. For us, he literally was Christmas. He loved everything about the traditions and memories that Christmas evokes, and so bringing back his favourite scents seems a fitting tribute.”

The collection, which is now available to buy online and in-store at their Birkenhead boutique, showcases three classic fragrances, all designed by Drew, each of which conjures up memories of warm, traditional Christmas joy.

All packed with a range of seasonal notes including Myrhh, cinnamon, cloves, oranges and spice, Drew’s creativity and vision is set to live on in the incredible products he was so passionate about.

Carols By Candlelight – Picture the soft woody glow of candles twinkling against the frosted stained glass. The scent is deep and a touch acerbic from the dark Myrrh. Eighteen Forty-Three – For this award-winning fragrance, Drew took his inspiration from Charles Dickens’ classic tale, “A Christmas Carol” (published in 1843). Notes of roasted chestnuts and coal fires blend with dark rum and exotic spices from Britain’s Empire to create a bold and daring scent evocative of a Victorian Christmas.

Home for Christmas – Home for Christmas begins its olfactory journey with uplifting top notes of zesty lemons and juicy oranges before notes of fragrant jasmine and citrus pine oil gently unfold. Finally, immerse yourself in the unmistakably traditional aromas of cinnamon, cloves and ginger, complimented by notes of rich woods and musk.
