Winning Grand National Jockey, Rachael Blackmore chats to Jay at Aintree about the new bar named after and the fact she’s been inducted into as a Grand National Legend 👏

Rachael Blackmore, the only female jockey to win the Randox Grand National, was inducted as a Grand National Legend before racing on Opening Day of the 2026 Randox Grand National Festival.

The 36-year-old, who was victorious in the world`s greatest steeplechase in 2021 on Minella Times, will have her Legends plaque on the wall of Blackmore`s, a new alcohol-free space named after her at the racecourse and which she also opened today.

Aintree Racecourse Chair Julian Taylor said: “It is an enormous privilege for us to be able to induct you as an Aintree Legend. Your great moment here in 2021 was one that none of us will ever forget.

"You are a sporting icon, not just here at Aintree but globally, and you are also a lovely human being. Many congratulations to you.”

The ceremony took place immediately before Blackmore officially opened Blackmore’s, a new facility that commemorates her Aintree achievements. Featuring artwork by street art specialists MurWalls and local children from Holy Rosary School in Aintree, Blackmore’s is a new alcohol-free space, offering Lavazza Coffee and fresh bakes and snacks as well as more traditional alcohol-free options.

Tonight the city is lit up ready for the Randox Grand National 2026 😍

The Grand Reveal took place today in Exchange Flags as excitement built for the return of the city’s biggest annual event.

Legendary jockeys took to the stage to share their stories, visitors snapped photos with Grand National winner Neptune Collonges as a host of family-friendly activities took over the square.

From tomorrow over 150,000 race-goers will descend on Aintree Racecourse for three magical days.
