Watch: Bold Street Coffee continues to serve the local community through lockdown

Bold Street Coffee, Liverpool’s best-known coffee shop, has continued to serve the community during all three national lockdowns.

After the first lockdown was announced in March 2020, the coffee shop set about becoming fully Covid-safe and reopened to operate as take-away and collection, giving the people of Liverpool a touch of normality during strange and uncertain times.

Serving their award-winning cups of coffee alongside a delicious food menu including their famous Buoys, Bold Street Coffee has welcomed regulars and new visitors alike since the pandemic began.

Bold Street Coffee is home to a changing gallery wall that is refreshed every few months and in August 2020, when restrictions were lifted, the venue set about helping a local cause – The Anthony Walker Foundation to coincide with the 15th year since Anthony’s tragic death.

Working closely with artists, BSC showcased an incredibly moving and unique exhibition to raise money for the foundation whilst reinforcing its own ethos of inclusion, equality and community.The exhibition was also timely with the Black Lives Matter movement garnering international attention and Bold Street Coffee wanted to promote an important anti-racism message in support of that.

Although Bold Street Coffee’s trade is greatly affected by the pandemic and the repeated national lockdowns, the venue felt it was important to stay open so that it could provide its guests and the community with a small slice of normality, something to break up their day, be there for those still having to work or a little reward after their daily exercise, with a warm brew and a friendly face.

As well as remaining open, Bold Street Coffee has launched an online shop with free delivery to all Liverpool postcodes, so you can get your favourite brew delivered to your door if you can’t leave the house or get to town. And there’s a range of BSC merchandise available too!
