Wyld Sauna expansion set to create Liverpool’s most inclusive wellness space

Since launching in November 2024, Wyld has quickly built a loyal following, offering a unique hot and cold therapy experience on the water at Princes Dock. Now, a new phase of development is set to take things even further, with completion expected in early summer.

The expansion is being shaped directly by customer feedback, with a focus on creating a space that feels welcoming, accessible and community-led.

Alongside upgraded facilities, Wyld is introducing a wider programme of sessions designed to reflect Liverpool’s diverse communities. Plans include dedicated LGBTQ+ spaces, events aimed at tackling loneliness among over-60s, as well as women-only and silent sessions.

The aim is to move beyond a traditional sauna experience and create a space where people can connect, unwind and feel comfortable being themselves.

As part of the redevelopment, the site’s original floating sauna will be refurbished, with improvements to seating, flooring, cold plunge areas and heating systems to enhance the overall experience.

Accessibility is also a major focus. Plans include installing a lift to improve access to the dock and redesigning the space to better support guests with limited mobility. New initiatives such as companion passes are also being introduced to help ensure the space is open to as many people as possible.

Wyld is also launching a new “Board of Culture”, bringing together voices from the community to help shape the future direction of the business.

While work takes place, the sauna will remain open, with disruption kept to a minimum.

Visitors can also expect a new food and drink offering, starting with coffee and pastries in the morning and expanding into juices, natural wines and Neapolitan-style pizzas throughout the day.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Peel Waters, the team behind the wider Liverpool Waters regeneration scheme.

Wyld Sauna co-founder Jon Miller said the next stage is all about building something meaningful for the city.

He said: “Wyld was never meant to be just a sauna, it’s about creating a space where people feel welcome, included and connected. This next phase is about listening to our community and making sure everything we do reflects the people who use it.”

With new facilities, expanded programming and a strong focus on inclusivity, Wyld Sauna’s next chapter is set to bring a fresh take on wellness to Liverpool’s waterfront.
