8 Liverpool date night ideas to try out this winter

We don’t need any more reason to get wrapped up and cosy with our better half!

Winter is coming, the days are getting shorter and the temperature is dropping, but that doesn’t mean romance is dead.

We’ve lined up 8 Liverpool date night ideas to try out this winter, from strolling hand in hand around the Christmas markets to the back row of the movies and maybe even a sunset, there’s something for all the lovers.

Scarf, gloves and lip balm at the ready, here’s 8 Liverpool winter date night ideas….

1 – Take in a Show

How can you beat a night at the theatre during the winter time? The Liverpool Philharmonic is showing ‘Love Actually’ in Concert and the phenomenal ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ on Christmas Eve too. The Liverpool Empire has the incredible ‘War Horse’ visiting now until early December and why not have a cheeky snog on the back row at FACT as ‘Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool’ goes on general release.

Alternative get glammed up and book your tickets for the St George’s Hall Black Tie Snow Ball on Saturday 16th December as the great hall undergoes a snowy make over for a night of brilliant winter entertainment.

2 – Cosy up for Frozen Festival Fun

Head down to the Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival, Pier Head. Situated at the Pier Head, this huge winter venue includes tonnes of market stalls, thrill rides, Ice Bar – where you simply have to get close to stay warm, and an Apres Ski bar with weekend DJ’s and great drinks offers. Liverpool date night, sorted!

3 – Tasty Treats made for Two

The local food scene is exploding with flavour, there are so many restaurants covering a wide variety of cuisines and what could be more fun than a Liverpool date night full of flirting and delicious picky bits? Small plates make for a cute, romantic evening, as its all about sharing. Maray, Bacaro, Izakaya, The Club House and Mowgli all offer a range of different cuisine that’s sure to impress settle those butterflies.

4 – Old Skool Romance in the Georgian Quarter

A good old fashioned pub can often be overlooked as a date spot, no seriously. The Georgian Quarter of Liverpool houses some of the oldest and smallest (cuddle up people) drinking establishments in town. Peter Kavanaghs, The Belvedere and the Caledonia almost wrap their arms around as you enter, and the twinkly lights of the Everyman Bistro, The Philharmonic and gin balloons at The Clove Hitch, will make for a great pub crawl.

5 – Sunset on the Mersey

Although the temperature is low, a Liverpool date night walking along our stunning waterfront to watch the sun set is a always a winner, regardless of the season. Stroll the cobbles of the historic Albert Dock or if you’re feeling energetic, why not check out Bike & Go, or jump a Merseyrail service to St Michaels and walk from Otterspool, taking in the spectacular early evening view, along the waterfront path to the Baltic Market, Stanhope Street and get warmed through with Halloumi fries and a cocktail?

6 – Two things we love, Cheese and Wine

Its important to keep warm on the cold winter nights, so what better way to turn the heat up than with warm, sticky cheese and a carefully selected glass of wine? Get down to Cheese and Co. on the corner of Castle Street and treat your date to a whole baked camembert and an accompanying glass of French red. You are guaranteed to leave happy. 7 – Say cheers with winter drinks

Drinks festivals are always a great experience in Liverpool and this winter is no exception. St Luke’s (The Bombed Out Church) is hosting a rum and prosecco festival whilst The Lutyens Crypt, underneath the Metropolitan Cathedral has a gin festival coming up. The venues, entertainment plus a wide variety of small batch spirits are all elements for a perfect (if not messy) date. 8 – An Audience with Santa
