October has arrived, and that means it’s time to start planning for Halloween! As well as one of the best family traditions… pumpkin picking.

There are plenty of great spots for pumpkin picking around Liverpool city region to enjoy.

Here’s nine fantastic patches you need to visit this month:

The Pumkin Patch – Hightown

Famous for huge pumpkins and a wide range of varieties, this Hightown venue is ready for you now.

Open from 9am-6pm every ay until 31 October. There is no booking required and no entry fee.

There is also a maize maze for everyone to enjoy once your pumpkin picking is done. Card or cash is accepted, there is a picnic area and an artisan market tent at the weekend.

Church View Farm – Lydiate

Open from 5 October, pumpkin picking is back this year from 5 October.

With fairground rides, ice cream and a farm shop, this is a great family option.

There is no admission fee, parking is free and you don’t need to book.

Open daily from 9am-5pm until 31 October.

Pumpkin Alley – Downholland, Ormskirk

The pumpkin express is a highlight of this pick your own patch near Ormskirk.

Open now until 31 October, 10am – 5pm daily, entry is free and dogs on leads are welcome.

Claremont Farm – Wirral

Claremont Farm pick your own pumpkins open on 5 October at 10am.

There will be a takeaway trailer in the fields, with hot drinks and sweet treats and the farm shop and café will also be open.

Church Farm – Thurstaston, Wirral

It’s more than just pumpkin picking at Church Farm with the Family Fright Festival.

Kids can enjoy a tractor ride in the admission price, they can enter the Skull Search, and enjoy the pick your own pumpkin patch.

Due to the location of the pumpkin patch it’s only possible to get to it on one of the timed tractor rides so do plan your visit accordingly. Tractor rides are at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm.

There are also Barrel Train Rides available for booking.

Goredale Garden Centre – Burton, Wirral

Back for 2024, the Halloween Pumpkin Patch Trail will once again entertain families this autumn. 

Kids can set off on an adventure in search of the hidden pumpkins on the Pumpkin Trail, discover the secret code word and be granted access to the Pumpkin Patch.

It costs £4.50 per child and that includes a trail sheet. Open from 19 – 31 October.

Pumpkin Patch Trail is available every day until 5pm. The garden centre is open from 9am, Monday – Saturday and from 11am on Sunday.

Rainford’s Christmas Tree Land – Eccleston

From the classic orange Halloween pumpkin to a whole host of other varieties, Rainford’s pumpkin patches are filled with blue, green, orange and white pumpkins. The fields do not require you to book in advance, you don’t need a ticket – Simply turn up and enjoy a fabulous day out with a pumpkin for everyone.

The fields are open now and pumpkins are charged according to size.

Birchall’s Pumpkin Patch – Rainford

Open from 5 – 31 October, there is no booking necessary and cash or card is accepted.

There is free parking, eight acres of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes to choose from and refreshments available.

There are also tractor trailer rides available and lots of opportunities for photographs.

Open from 9am to 6pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday and 10am to 5pm Monday to Thursday.

Dunham Massey Farm

The Pumpkin Patch at Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream is back for 2024.

This year you will need to book if you make your way to the farm near Altrincham.

You only need one booking per car (If you arrive on foot or via other means you will also need one booking per group)

This year as well as a great variety of pumpkins of all shapes, sizes and colours, there will be fantastic photo opportunities and new outdoor food offerings. There will also be coffee and alcoholic drinks available.

Open from 12 noon on weekdays, 10am at the weekend.
