Salt and Tar nominated for two awards following successful summer event
1 year ago
Thousands of people from as far as France and Australia visited the venue in July to see local stars Red Rum Club perform alongside The Lathums and Cast.
New Bootle venue Salt and Tar has been nominated for two awards following its highly successful music event this summer.
Now, the event is up for the âBest New Festivalâ and âBest Small Festivalâ categories at this yearâs UK Festival Awards. The Awards celebrate and acknowledge the âcreativity, tenacity and energy that powers our world leading festival industry.â
All shortlisting for the two awards is decided by a public vote, with the final winner chosen by a judging panel.
Councillor Marion Atkinson, Sefton Councilâs Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills said:Â
âSalt and Tarâs music event was a tremendous success and Iâm delighted that it has been recognised nationally with two nominations in the UK Festival Awards.
âOver 6,000 tickets were sold across the music weekend in July and we received lots of fantastic feedback from attendees, businesses and performers. It is clear that Salt and Tar has great potential as a venue and this is just the start of an incredibly exciting future.
âWell done to everyone who was involved in bringing the event to life. I think itâs well deserving of the awards and would love to see people showing their support by heading to the website to vote.â
Previous winners at the Festival Awards include Parklife in Manchester, Tramlines in Sheffield and Teddy Rocks in Dorset.
Voting is open until Monday 23rd October. Shortlisting will be announced on Friday 26th October and winners will be revealed at the Awards on Tuesday 5th December.
