The Storybarn marks 10 years with a big end of summer family festival

The Reader is throwing a birthday party with a difference this August as The Storybarn celebrates its 10th anniversary with a free family festival in Calderstones Park.

Taking place at The Reader on Sunday 31 August from 10am to 4pm, Storybarn Fest will bring stories to life with a packed day of activities, music and family fun.

The day will include live performances from Futureyard’s Mosh Tots Band at 11am and 3pm, drop-in storytelling and rhyme sessions every half hour, birthday crafts, face painting, outdoor play, a barbecue, photo booth, and even a special birthday ice cream flavour created by Cheshire Farm.

Singing Mamas and Holistic Harmonies will also join the line-up, with families invited to help sing Happy Birthday to The Storybarn.

Since opening in 2015, the unique play-and-storytelling space has welcomed more than 93,000 family visits and become a much-loved spot for reading, crafts and imagination-fuelled fun in the heart of Calderstones Park.

Storybarn Manager Natalia Rojas said:

“We’re so excited to celebrate 10 years with an even bigger Storybarn Fest. From music and stories to crafts and cake, it’s set to be a brilliant day for families to round off the summer holidays together.”

Entry is free and no booking is required.
