Experience a magical underwater garden at the Palm House this October

Sefton Park Park Palm House will host their annual Henry Yates Thompson fundraising dinner on October 12 (7.30pm start), as the Grade II* listed building transforms itself into a magical underwater garden.

Enter the Palm House which will be bathed in a magical underwater effect, with a welcome cocktail on arrival accompanied by chamber music from Q-Quartets, an exquisite dinner including a selection of wines, a full evening of entertainment including awe-inspiring aerial acrobats, stilt walkers, fireworks, groovy beats from internationally-acclaimed DJ Yousef, dance presentations from Salsa Liverpool and MD Productions and many other special surprises, all in the presence of Posiedon and his handmaiden.

This annual event recognises the building’s proud history and the generosity of Liverpool philanthropist Henry Yates Thompson, who in 1896 gifted £10,000 to enable the building of the magnificent glass house for the benefit and wellbeing of the people of Liverpool.

Roy Boardman, director of Sefton Park Palm House Preservation Trust, said:

“We are proud that the Henry Yates Thompson dinner celebrates the vibrant and diverse activities that take place at the Palm House and reflects the many cultures of the city and our close links to local organisations. As a charity we rely solely on fundraising income to deliver both our community and health & wellbeing programmes to enrich lives. In addition we welcome many diverse visitors from all over the world who enjoy the Palm House free of charge seven days a week.

“The money raised from this event will go towards new projects including the opportunity to support young people’s mental health. We promise our guests that 2019’s dinner will be bigger and better than ever before!”
