A huge new public artwork has arrived on Liverpool’s waterfront as internationally renowned artists Gillie and Marc bring their striking Go Wildlife Go installation to Princes Dock.

The monumental sculpture has been installed between the Malmaison Liverpool and Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre at Liverpool Waters, where it will remain from April 2026 until April 2027.

It marks the first time the artists have exhibited in Liverpool, with the piece previously shown in London before finding a new home on the city’s iconic waterfront.

The sculpture features a group of endangered animals including a giraffe, elephant, lion, gorilla and rhino all balancing together on a scooter, creating a playful but powerful message about wildlife conservation.

At the centre of the artwork are Gillie and Marc’s well-known characters Dogman and Rabbitwoman, symbols of unity and acceptance, riding alongside the animals to show the connection between people and the natural world.

Unlike many large-scale artworks, visitors are being encouraged to get involved, with people invited to climb onto the sculpture, take photos and become part of the installation themselves.

The piece has been brought to the city through a partnership between Liverpool Business Improvement District and Liverpool Waters, as part of a wider commitment to bringing more public art into the city centre.

Gillie and Marc said they wanted to create something eye-catching that also carries an important message.

They said: “These animals are not just characters — they represent real species that need our help. By bringing them together in this way, we hope people feel a connection to them, and are inspired to care about their future.”

Bill Addy CEO of Liverpool Business Improvement District said: “We are delighted to have been able to step in and support Gillie and Marc in finding a new home for this work. We hope the sculpture will be very happy on the waterfront. We are committed to art staying in the public realm. It animates space and gives artists a sense of ownership and a place in our cities and streets. For the city we hope they will find this artwork as inspiring as we have and will want to get hands on in giving it a Liverpool welcome”.

Set against Liverpool’s famous waterfront, the sculpture is expected to become a major talking point for visitors and locals over the next 12 months, adding another cultural landmark to the city’s growing waterfront destination.
