Liverpool Schoolgirl’s dream becomes reality as Lush launches ‘Lola’s Aurora Borealis’ bath bomb
3 hours ago
Lush is turning a Liverpool schoolgirl’s dream into reality with the launch of a special new bath bomb, created by 11-year-old Lola.
The bath bomb launches just in time for World Bath Bomb Day on 27th April, celebrating the defining moment Lush Co-Founder and Manufacturing Director, Mo Constantine OBE, was awarded the trademark and disrupted the bathing market with the invention of the bath bomb in 1989.
After submitting her product idea for her ‘Northern Lights bath bomb’ through Lush’s complimentary newspaper, the Lush Times, ‘Design Your Own Bath Bomb’ page, Lola’s idea has been selected and transformed into a real product: Lola’s Aurora Borealis bath bomb, referencing the latin name for this natural phenomenon. Inspired by the magic of the spectacle, her design captures the wonder of one of nature’s most breathtaking displays.
In a letter to Lush, she described her fizzing imagination in detail: envisioning the scent of the bath bomb of the ‘ozone and rain’ and she wished for ‘hidden bursts of purple, teal and striking yellow’ as well as ‘popping candy for crackling lightning sounds as it fizzes’ in the water.
She very politely added:
“I hope my bath bomb makes it into your shop, but if not, that’s ok because I just wanted to have some fun!”
Lola recently travelled with her family to Poole, the hometown of Lush, to see her creation come to life firsthand, meeting Lush’s product inventors and manufacturing team and witnessing the craftsmanship behind making bath bombs. The bath bomb features a fresh, uplifting scent created by Lush in-house perfumer Emma Vincent, combining eucalyptus, bergamot, pine needle absolute, and peppermint oil, layered with light, airy ozonic notes to evoke the crisp atmosphere of a glowing night sky.

Lola said:
“I was very proud I had designed a bath bomb Lush was using. I had a lovely day at the Lush headquarters and really loved seeing all the colours, the smells and tools they used to make it.”
Lola’s Aurora Borealis celebrates both her vision and the beauty of recent aurora sightings. Using Lola’s original drawings and notes as inspiration, Lush product inventors developed a bespoke pressing tool to bring her design to life in vivid, swirling colour.
The bath bomb will be available for Lush Club members and in UK anchor stores (Glasgow, Liverpool and London Oxford Street) on 21st April first and then online and in all UK stores from 23rd April.

“Working on Lola’s dream bath bomb has brought us so much joy. Everyone who has contributed to this project has loved seeing it develop and get closer and closer to Lola’s vision. Keen to follow the story; and make this whole experience as magical as we can for Lola and her family & friends. Lola being from Liverpool felt even more aligned with Lush, as we have one of our biggest and most community oriented stores in the city centre.
Making a dream come true and giving back to our customer has to be one of the most rewarding things we can do to celebrate the bathing community. I encourage everyone to give this one a sniff. It’s like nothing we’ve ever done before.
Lola… this is going to fly off the shelves! The biggest thank you. You’re boss!”
