Dignitaries and guests who travelled from Basilicata were said to be impressed not only by the warmth of Liverpool’s welcome, but by the incredible hospitality business Donato Cillo and his family have built within the city. The event showcased how the Cillo family have successfully created a true authentic Italian experience in Liverpool, blending traditional Italian values of family, food and togetherness with the energy and character of Liverpool.

Guests were transported on a culinary journey through southern Italy with a specially curated five-course menu paired with exceptional regional wines. The evening featured collaborations between acclaimed culinary and artisan talent from Basilicata and Liverpool, celebrating the craftsmanship and traditions that have been passed through generations.

Antonio Matteo of Panificio Matteo supplied authentic homemade pasta, while Oronzo Alo of Alovini introduced guests to a collection of vintage wines from the Basilicata region.

Speaking after the event, Donato Cillo said:
“This evening meant so much to me and my family. To be able to share the traditions, flavours and culture of Basilicata with the city we now call home was incredibly special. Liverpool has welcomed us with open arms over the years and tonight was about celebrating that connection between our two communities. Seeing our guests from Italy experience Liverpool, and seeing how much they admired the city and everything we have built here as a family, made me immensely proud.”
“Home to Home” proved to be far more than a dining experience. It was a heartfelt celebration of identity, heritage and international friendship, bringing together two proud communities through food, culture and shared values around the table.
