August bank holiday weekend’s don’t get much hotter than this! The mercury is rising across Merseyside and we’ve got an extra day off work. There’s only one thing to do, check out the best outdoor spaces, terraces and beer gardens in Liverpool.
Soaking up the rays with boss company and a nice chilled drink in your hand is what summers are all about, so we’ve put together a handy list of the best outdoor spaces and venues to check out while the sun’s still shining!
Situated just behind Exchange Flags, Hotel Indigo is a super stylish lounge and bar with an outdoor terrace and pavement type cafe. Soak up the rays, grab some bar snacks and raise a toast to bank holidays Mondays! More here.
Based at Liverpool One, Roxy Ballroom has an amazing rooftop terrace that overlooks the city centre streets. Work up a sweat on the pool table (not literally) and chill with a beer or cocktails outside. More info here.
This former bank at West Africa House is easily one of the most impressive beer gardens in Liverpool. With unrivalled views of the Royal Liver Building. Set on the 8th floor, the garden is open daily from 12 til 7 and serves food until 5pm. Check out www.ohmeohmyliverpool.co.uk
We love nothing more than tucking into tasty hanging kebabs and small plates with our after work goss and The Club House lawn is the perfect place to do it. With live music, an outdoor bar and loads of places to sit and sip, get there early to bag a table. More here.
With regular BBQ’s and a huge beer garden, Dovedale Towers is the perfect, quiet suburban setting to relax with a gin balloon and a burger! Check out their twitter account for regular updates on what’s on. @DovedaleTowers.
Rum cocktails and summer sun, that’s what we’re talking about. Nab yourself a coveted table on the dockside or dance the night away with live saxophone and Cuban party vibes at Revolucion De Cuba. New bottomless brunch menu here.
Heebies have recently refurbed their awesome courtyard just in time for the sun making an appearance and with regular live music and tea pot cocktails, who wouldn’t want to pull up an al fresco pew in such an eclectic setting? More info here.
Bank holiday weekend vibes are GO at Birdies Bar, Cains Brewery Village, one of the liveliest beer gardens in Liverpool. Get down there early, tuck into an Apocalypse Cow feast, bust some moves to the live music and get on the cocktails, beers, whatever! Good times all round. More here.
We’re pretty sure MacKenzie’s is the only bar in Liverpool that has chesterfield couches and wing back chairs in and outside their bar! With a smart two level terrace, this Rodney Street bar boasts over 150 Whiskies, plus cocktails and beers. Check out www.mackenziesbar.co.uk for more info.
The team at the Elephant and adjoining Liberty Tavern are committed to sourcing local produce and their range of British beers and gin is a brilliant accompaniment to their landscaped garden. With a child friendly atmosphere this village setting is perfect for a late dinner and drinks any night of the week. Check out www.theelephantwoolton.co.uk for reservations
Chill, Gin & The Baltic, what a match made in heaven! Head to the Botanical Gin Garden, New Bird Street and sip til your little hearts content. Chilled atmosphere, beats and company. More here.
This is one of the city’s hidden gems in our opinion. The word ‘quirky’ is over used nowadays but that word sums up the The Kaz Gardens perfectly. With it’s relaxed atmosphere and unique food & drink menu this is the perfect place to chill in the sunshine. From ice cream floats to cask ales, frozen cocktails and Vietnamese coffees, you simply won’t find another bar menu like it in Liverpool. Add to that the charcoal grill, live music and hipster regulars this is one of the coolest spots in town. Info here.
One of the newest beer gardens in Liverpool, Mann Island Social serves up a top quality beer offering and a carefully curated cocktail list fit to wash down the varied menu of classic sharing plates, hand-crafted burgers, and salad bowls that will happily replace your traditional Sunday roast in the heat! Grab an outdoor table and dine/drink all day. More here.
Known locally as The Sefton, this stalwart of West Derby Village has seen some miraculous make overs in recent years, but its huge beer garden has remained one of the best in the city. Pint and the match down The Sefton, yeah go on then! More info here.
Red Door Liverpool has firmly cemented itself in the ‘must go’ places on a night out in the city. Friendly and lively bar staff, a stunning cocktail menu and incredible live music – this bar has added the cool factor to Bury Street. The rooftop terrace is perfect on a sunny day, spacious, chilled and comfortable.
The BBQ nights have proven a huge success last summer but for now go and check out one of our favourite rooftop bars and treat yourself to one of the many swanky cocktails on the menu. More info here.
