Watch as we take you inside the stunning new Cains Brewery

One of Liverpool’s oldest and best-loved breweries has taken off the towels for a long-awaited revival.

Cains Brewery is back in business!

“It’s been in the pipeline for a long time and we’re delighted to say it’s finally happened,” says Andrew Mikhail, owner of the Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group. “It was founded by Robert Cain in 1858 so there’s a lot of history and heritage attached to Cains for the city.

“The beer they call ‘Liverpool in a pint’ has been missed since it disappeared from bars almost 10 years ago, and I feel incredibly proud to be bringing this iconic brewery back to life.

“It’ll be part of the growing Cains Brewery Village that will attract people into the city for all the right reasons.

“And it’s going to be magical.”

Cains Brewery was recently relaunched with a VIP bash, when the button was pressed on the start of the new brewing process before being opened to the public.

It was a chance to welcome the reappearance of the famous local beer, and to celebrate another new venue in the landmark Stanhope Street building alongside Mikhail Group’s already popular Punch Tarmey’s and Arcains.

Cains will have four bars set across three floors right where the original ale was brewed. There’ll be a huge glass viewing wall so people can see the brewing process and, as well as Cains – the first pints will be ready about four weeks after the launch – there’ll be a selection of craft ales carefully curated under the watchful eye of expert manager and head brewer Andy Hayes, and a menu of hop cocktails – or ‘hoptails’!

Brewery tours are set to be introduced, and there’ll be private tap rooms to hire where people can have their own keg and pull their own pints.

Families will be encouraged during the daytime and there’ll be daily food menus, while it’ll become another key night-time venue for Liverpool with regular live acoustic music.
