7 Fun ways to spend a Snowy day on Merseyside

Grab your wellies and dust off your sledge, the snow is coming!

The Met Office has issued an Amber Warning for snow across Merseyside and we can’t wait to wrap up warm and head out to have some snowy fun. Whether you prefer to curl up with a good film, head out with mates for a hot chocolate, or get back to basics with wellies, sledges, the kids and the dog, we’ve got a snowy Sunday suggestion for you.

Now is a great time to look in on elderly neighbours, family and friends, especially if you’re heading out and can pick up some extra bits to keep warm and comfortable. Click here to check out top tips from the NHS on winter health for all ages. You can check out the most up to date weather forecast from the Met Office UK here and remember to take it easy on the roads if you’re out and about. Have a fab snowy day!

Here’s 7 ways to spend a snowy Sunday on Merseyside…..

1 – Sledging & Snow Angels across Merseyside

When the snow falls, scouse families and friends head to the region’s parks, laden down with sledges, bin lids, pretty much anything that will send you hurtling down the hill with a big smile on your face. We love Camp Hill, Otterspool, Sefton Park, Everton Brow and Vale Park Wallasey for snow fun. Expect rosy cheeks and plenty of laughs! Click here for our best winter walk ideas.

2 – Hot Chocolate in the suburbs

Had a lovely long walk around Sefton Park in the snow? Why not head to Lark Lane for a luxury hot chocolate at Milo’s Lounge, Arabesque Bistro or glass of red at Keith’s? Or wander down to Allerton Road and stop in at Three Piggies (dogs welcome too), brand new eatery 109 Allerton or Verdant for a rich, warming coffee or cuppa.

3 – Sunday Roast Love

You can’t beat a belting Sunday Roast on a snowy day and Liverpool is bursting with Yorkshire pudding and gravy loveliness. With winter menus now on offer plus cheeky bowls of scouse too, why not treat the family to dinner out? We’re loving Marco Pierre White’s brand new Christmas menu, Titanic’s traditional Sunday roast, the phenomenal eats at Red’s True BBQ and The Club House hanging turkey kebabs with cranberry glaze! Click here to find your perfect roast and get booking.

4 – Movie Day

Not everyone is into mucking about in the snow so how about grabbing some munchies and enjoying a movie instead? Out resident film buff, Alex has lined up the very best of the December releases to watch, perfect for a chilly/snow day on Merseyside. Click here to check out the line up.

5 – Sea, Sand and Snow!?

Yep you read that right, Formby Point Snow Dunes is the perfect place to have fun sledging down to the seafront on a snow day in Merseyside. We love the sand dunes during the summer and now you can have just as much fun in the snow! Click here for more info about Formby Point National Trust.

We’d love to see your snowy Formby pics if you head there sledging this winter! Tweet, Insta or Facebook us @TheGuideLpool

6 – Christmas Markets at St George’s Hall

For a truly authentic Christmas Market experience get down to St George’s Hall in the snow and warm up with a hot toddy, just like The Guide Liverpool team last week. Wander the cobbled lanes of stalls and take the most Christmassy of Christmas pics ever! Check out all the stalls and opening times here.

7 – Family dining at The Old Stables Restaurant

If you’re looking for a place to dine with all the family, why not head to The Old Stables Restaurant at Allerton Manor? Neslted in the heart of South Liverpool, take in the stunning scenery on the long drive way and tuck in to classic British dishes done right. Generous portions, lovely staff and a beautiful dining room to watch the snow fall! Find out more here.

Where is your favourite Merseyside place to enjoy the snow? Tag us in on socials @TheGuideLpool and we’ll share the snowy fun on our socials.
