Most of us now split our time between working from home and in an office, so it’s no surprise the demand for modern, flexible workspaces has increased.
Award-winning Avenue HQ is leading the way for the flexible workspace industry, and growing ecosystems across the North of England – two of them in Liverpool.
Workplace director Sarah Kelly says:
“Our places are designed to be welcoming, energising and inspiring. Being part of Liverpool’s thriving business community is something we deeply value. We’re proud to support local entrepreneurs, start-ups, and growing businesses by providing the space and environment they need to succeed.”
That’s why Liverpool BID Company has named them Business of the Month for May.
More than just desk
Avenue HQ offers serviced private office spaces, hot-desk memberships, executive meeting rooms and event services. Its private office spaces come with a bespoke service that enables its members to customise them, including a portfolio of trusted contractors and designers for professional branding, sound-proofing, etc.

It started in Liverpool
The first Avenue HQ was at Mann Island on the waterfront, which is now home to famous names like The Anfield Wrap as well as global IT consulting company CGI UK. The city’s second AHQ location is St Paul’s Square and that’s become an eco-hub for recruitment companies and solicitors, and a home for the networking group Women in Property among others.
Major milestones
In November 2024, AHQ St Paul’s Square – the third site (the second was Leeds) – celebrated its fifth anniversary. Since opening its doors it’s welcomed more than 520 members, hosted over 3,800 meetings and events, and provided countless, career-changing opportunities. To mark the milestone, Avenue HQ hosted a week of events to bring together current members, alumni and supporters, including Pitch & Pizza where entrepreneurs were invited to pitch their business in 90 seconds for the chance to win a year of free coworking. This year’s winners included Alex Keyter, AI prodigy and founder of Generative Minds, and Caitlin Lewing, co-founder of Girls on the go!, a go-to community for young girls and women looking to vitalise their health and wellness.
Supplying space – supporting goals
One of Avenue HQ’s unique selling points is its dedication to directly supporting members’ goals. Since winning Pitch & Pizza, and with the help of Avenue HQ’s resources and community, Alex Keyter has hosted multiple events about AI and tech at AHQ Mann Island with the likes of Goodship and the University of Liverpool, multiplying his outreach tenfold. Alex says: “This (Avenue HQ) is a place where I’m accessing the best possible support, the nicest people and the best resources to be able to take what I do and just grow infinitely.”

Teamwork
Avenue HQ hosts pizza nights, yoga sessions and networking lunches and showcases its valuable partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs, a nationwide network that supports startups and scaleups with expert connections, tailored learning and programmes, and networking opportunities. Its community teams connect with people on a personal level, offering support and encouragement to help them grow in their own time and in their own way.
Flexible working is shown to promote a happier workforce, giving choice and control over working patterns which benefits people practically and emotionally; while encouraging employers to build diverse and inclusive workforces.
Going the extra mile
Avenue HQ has partnered with, and supported, Zoe’s Place Children’s Hospice in Liverpool for more than two years, as well as Cheshire-based PAPYRUS: Prevention of Young Suicide. This year it took on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, collectively raising more than £4,000.
