Southport Air Show brought another day of blue skies and breath-taking aerobatics to the skies on Saturday. As hundreds of cars lined the beach and car parks, the Tigers Army Parachute Display Team began their tumbling descent, adorned with flags.
Blackcats followed with beach explosions that turned the scene into something from a thrilling episode of the A Team, before the Fire Flies aircraft returned with fast-paced ‘near miss’ style flying that had everyone gasping.
The Air Show Village proved hugely popular with military vehicle fans and children alike. Packed with fun fair rides, stalls and food and drink outlets, there was a real festival feel right across the waterfront site. With more than 20 different aircraft roaring across the beach throughout the day, stand out highlights were the P-47 Thunderbolt, Tucano & The Blades, The Typhoon and the return of OTTO The Helicopter.
The end of the days show was signalled with a second display from the Artillery Guns. With yet another incredible sunset providing the perfect backdrop, this years show just keeps on giving. Who’s ready for the third and final day?
