Lunar New Year celebrations on Sunday

There’s already been some beautiful Lunar New Year events happening over the past couple of weeks, building up to the big one. This Sunday, go to Chinatown from mid-morning for a full day featuring traditional dragon, lion and unicorn parades, firecracker displays, family workshops, Tai Chi demos, live music, street performances and stalls.

Wedding Night Market at Fabric Studios

If more traditional wedding fairs just aren’t for you, the Wedding Night Market celebrating alternative and LGBTQ+ inclusive weddings could fit the bill. Inside The Tapestry in Liverpool’s creative Fabric District, couples can chat to photographers, florists, stylists, venues and makers on Thursday, 5pm-9pm.

Relax at The One O’Clock Gun, Albert Dock

For a few drinks with a really nice chilled proper pub atmosphere, head to the One O’Clock Gun and you’ll get the bonus of being at the gorgeous dock. It serves food, including a very tasty grilled cheese, all day and if you’re there Thursday to Sunday you’ll catch some great live music too.

If you’re looking for a lovely kids show, try A Squash and A Squeeze at the Playhouse. Based on the book by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, it’s been adapted for the stage to create a magical world full of songs and puppetry that’s funny and heartwarming. On Monday to Saturday.

Chinese New Year Craft at Museum of Liverpool

Liverpool’s Chinese New Year isn’t just about watching incredible displays, it’s about getting involved. Museum of Liverpool has a free drop-in ‘make and take’ craft session this Thursday that the whole family can enjoy. Get hands-on for the Year of the Horse with kids aged 3+, 11-12pm and 1.30-4pm.
